Kalkan Kalkan is an excellent base from which to explore this scenic area that is also steeped in history. The rugged Taurus Mountains, the valleys of fertile plains, rivers of rushing mountain water, & always the Turquoise Coast of this part of the Mediterranean. This area was once the centre of ancient Lycia & evidence of this history can be openly seen in many of the surrounding villages. There are many ways to explore & enjoy this area, options for activities are almost unlimited & cater for most interests & energies! There are several travel agencies within the village to book tours of the area & activities - such as :- Jeep safari Canoeing White water rafting Horse riding - beach or mountain Scuba diving Fishing Small boat & jet ski hire Kalkan village market day is Thursday. Of course you can not visit this Turquoise Coast without spending a day or two out on the water. The harbour is full of day trip boats that can privately hired or shared for a day sailing round the Islands & Bays.
